Facebook Threatens to Shut Down Conservative Site | FOX News & Commentary: Todd Starnes

Facebook is a private entity, and can do pretty much what it wants. However, this is yet another reason why I stand by my feelings about the evil nature of social networking. If it's not conservative thinking, it's something else. The point is that unless you own the billboard, you have to accept that someone else can moderate what gets pasted on it.

Orwell, George: Social Classes (1984)

George Orwell's diagram of the social classes from 1984.

If you happen upon this blog and are utterly clueless about the two acronyms comprising the title of this post, I strongly urge you to click the ribbon in the upper right corner of your browser window to learn more about these potentially disastrous pieces of flotsam...er...legislation.

The United States Congress cannot legislate - or more specifically, abridge our - Freedom of Speech; it has been guaranteed through our Constitution's First Amendment (1791).

Why is it, then, that such abuses of power take place so often, and with so little intervention on the part of the People?

Because, I think, the vast majority of the People are Proles (sheep).

Please do not be a Prole.

In Germany, in the 1930's, more people were as Proles. This did not lead to good things. Let not history repeat itself (yet again).

Congratulations, Senator-elect Brown

Heartfelt congratulations go out to Massachusetts Senator-elect Scott Brown for his stunning victory over his Democrat opponent.

I'm beginning to think that there may yet be hope (there's a word which was so overplayed in the last presidential election, huh?) for our ailing republic. That said, since the 2008 election cycle, I made a vow to only support individual candidates and not the big political machine. I'm not particularly thrilled with former Maryland Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele as RNC Chair. See comments posted here for pointers to some of his less-than-Conservative (and I use the term "Conservative" - capital "C" - in the spirit of Goldwater and Reagan) views (pro-Roe v. Wade, anti-gun, pro-affirmative action, anti-death penalty...to name a few). Big Tent Party? That's not my party.

For a breath of fresh air, have a glance over at the Ayn Rand Institute's site. Atlas Shrugged, indeed.
